Mitchell unveiled the watercolor painting on stage at the National Quartet Convention before an audience of 21,000 gospel music fans. The painting features Hovie Lister at the piano with Savannah Grace, doing what gospel music musicians have been doing for generations: "Handing Down the Heritage."
The widely acclaimed pianist who founded the Statesmen Quartet and played at Elvis Presley's funeral, helped Mitchell lift the veil from the painting as the adience cheered in approval. When he (Hovie Lister) addressed the aduience at the press conference he said humbly, "I am so honored to be included in this first painting for the SGMA with Savannah Grace."
Many Gospel music legends were on hand to share in the celebration. Bill Gaither gave the painting and print his endorsement calling it, "A work of art to be treasured for generations."

Savannah Grace, the young model for the painting,
gets some real "hands-on" training from piano great, Hovie Lister.
