"The Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum is honored to feature Hovie Lister in this work of art by Mitchell Tolle.
Hovie Lister has, with great integrity, personal excellence, and faithful service to God, devoted his life to Southern Gospel Music.
Throughout this century, Southern Gospel Music has been an unifying force in evangelism, tearing down denominational barriers, taking a message of hope to the world. The Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum is dedicated to honoring this rich heritage and preserving this legacy for future generations."
Those are the words inscribed on the plaque mounted along side the original which is on permanent display at the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Getting yourself preserved in a Mitchell Tolle painting for future generations to see is no easy task: Savannah Grace, the artist's Granddaughter and model for the painting, "Handing Down the Heritage." was off to a great start. But as this series of photographs reveals, she soon grew tired of the process. The spirited red-head is three years old.
